Oslo Bishop Responds to FSSPX Consecrations: "I Will Expand the Roman Rite in the Diocese"

Bishop Fredrik Hansen of Oslo, Norway, issued a July 3 statement following the episcopal consecrations by the Priestly Fraternity of Saint Pius X (FSSPX).
He said the two consecrating bishops and the four newly consecrated bishops had removed themselves from ecclesial communion and unity with the Pope: “This is sad, painful, and calls us to prayer and penance.” He urged Catholics to pray the Rosary for the unity of the Church on the Feast of Saint Sunniva, July 8.
Monsignor Hansen repeated Cardinal Tucho Fernández’s explanation that the consecrations were a schismatic act and that the priests “can no longer validly grant absolution in the sacrament of confession.”
He also urged Catholics to refrain from attending FSSPX Masses and other activities.
Addressing FSSPX faithful directly, he wrote: “I understand that these are difficult and distressing days for you. You may find yourselves pulled in different directions, and perhaps stand bewildered before all that has now come to pass.”

The Decree, the Note, and a Growing Crisis of Canonical Credibility

Just as predicted, when the Holy See announced the excommunication of the bishops consecrated by the Society of Saint Pius X, the headlines were horrible. Attention immediately centred upon the gravity of the penalty and the implications for the Society’s future. Supporters and critics alike hurried to debate Archbishop Marcel Lefebvre’s legacy, the necessity claimed by the Society and the consequences for traditional Catholics throughout the world. Almost unnoticed, however, another conversation began among canon lawyers. Within hours of publication, experienced canonists were asking not whether the Holy See possessed the authority to impose penalties, for no serious Catholic disputes that principle, but whether the documents published by the Dicastery for the Doctrine of the Faith had actually achieved what many commentators assumed they had achieved. The distinction is not a technicality. It goes to the heart of whether the Church’s supreme doctrinal authority has exercised its judicial …

'The Revelations of Saint Bridget of Sweden'; ~ ‘The words of Christ, in the presence of the bride…'; Book I; Chapter 59; part 2

[Saint Bridget of Sweden/ Heliga Birgitta; XIV Century AD: aged 69-70; born: Uppland, Sweden/died: Rome, Papal States; Widow, Mystic; Spiritual Writer; Founder; Patroness of Europe]
Chapter 59 ~ The words of Christ, in the presence of the bride, about how Christ is likened to a peasant, good priests to a good shepherd, bad priests to a bad shepherd, and good Christians to a wife. Many useful things are also explained in this parable.
After this first shepherd, that is, after these friends of mine, who used to be in my Church in days of old,
other unrighteous shepherds came that bought a wife for themselves with the gold, that is, they took to themselves the body of a woman and intemperance instead of chastity and these five good things, and that is why my Spirit departed from them. For when they have a complete will to sin and to satisfy their wife, that is, to satisfy their lust, then my Spirit is absent from them, since they do not care about the perdition of the sheep so long as they …Mwy

Vatican Newspaper Denies Devil: Biblical scholar and feminist Marinella Perroni, 78, wrote for the July issue of L'Osservatore Romano's monthly supplement Donne Chiesa Mondo. She claims that "in the Genesis account there is no devil"; rather, "the serpent is simply the most cunning animal in the eyes of the desert nomads." She argues
- that belief in evil spirits entered Jewish theology only at a relatively late stage through contact with other ancient religions,
- that the devil as a distinct figure appears only in the late and strongly Hellenized Book of Wisdom, and
- that St. Paul and the First Letter to Timothy linked "the serpent, the woman, and the fruit" to "the devil, women, and sin," thereby reinforcing a patriarchal understanding of sexual difference.

Cardinal Pizzaballa: "Gaza Is A Disaster. The Smell. The Rats."

Cardinal Pierbattista Pizzaballa visited Gaza on June 22-23 and recalled the situation on June 29 in Bergamo, Italy, when he received a Prize from the Italian geopolitical magazine Limes. Key phrases as reported by VaticanNews.va.
- "Gaza is a disaster. The cities have been razed to the ground, leveled, wiped out. Rafah no longer exists."
- "What strikes me most is traveling along makeshift roads, through tents and sewage. This is where the people of Gaza live."
- "One thing the images do not convey is the smell. "One of the greatest scourges right now is the rats, which bite. They bite children above all, and Gaza is full of children—you see them everywhere, but instead of going to school, they play, dirty, beside the sewers.”.
- "Dual-use goods are not allowed in. And by dual-use they even mean school desks, pencils, notebooks, and the glass needed for windows. We want to reopen the schools, but we are missing almost everything."
- "Healthcare workers have told me that what is needed …Mwy

Why Is the SSPX So Criticized?

Why Is the SSPX So Criticized? Fond du Lac (Wisconsin, USA) – June 14, 2020: Sunday celebration of the New Mass with distribution of communion to the faithful The Society of Saint Pius X is often wrongly accused of being in rupture with the Church. Yet, it fully recognizes the authority of the Pope while believing that resistance may be necessary when faith is at stake. Why does this position provoke so much criticism? Three Attitudes Towards the Crisis The crisis shaking the Church has been evident for several decades: a collapse in religious practice, a drop in vocations, a loss of the sense of the sacred and of sin, and doctrinal and liturgical confusion. Certainly, some good news, such as the increase in adult baptisms in certain countries, may bring joy to Catholics, but it does not, far from it, compensate for the disaster we have been witnessing for more than half a century. Analyses differ regarding the causes of this crisis and the remedies to be applied. Nevertheless, three …

The essential difference between these two groups lies not in their attachment to the traditional Mass, but in their public judgment on the causes of the crisis. Canonically recognized traditional communities continue, by virtue of their statutes, to institutionally accept the Second Vatican Council and the liturgical reforms. They may criticize certain excesses or interpretations, but they do not contest the principles or the legitimacy of the reforms.
The SSPX, on the contrary, considers that several conciliar teachings, particularly on religious freedom, ecumenism and collegiality, as well as the liturgical reform itself, constitute deep causes of the crisis and must therefore be subjected to doctrinal criticism.

Rev. Murray: FSSPX Excommunication Is "Canonical Mess"

Rev. Gerald Murray, a New York canon lawyer, called the excommunication of the Priestly Fraternity of Saint Pius X "a canonical mess" in an interview with Raymond Arroyo (video below).
Two Canonical Mechanisms
Rev. Murray distinguishes automatic (latae sententiae) penalties from imposed (ferendae sententiae) penalties requiring a judicial or administrative process.
Cardinal Victor "Tucho" Fernández did not impose excommunication but declared that an automatic penalty had already been incurred, since consecrating bishops without papal mandate triggers excommunication under canon law.
Decree Excommunicates Only Six Bishops
Rev. Murray's central criticism: the decree names only six bishops, while the explanatory note refers to priests and laity. But a note cannot legally expand a decree's scope.
The note calls priests "schismatics," yet the decree itself never declares them excommunicated.
Since a penal decree must specify who committed which offense and when, and this was omitted, Rev. …Mwy

Leo XIV in Lampedusa: Today, Pope Leo XIV visited Lampedusa to highlight his preferred issue of immigration. He began the visit with a silent prayer at the Cala Pisana cemetery, standing before the wooden crosses of migrants who had died while being trafficked. During his homily, he greeted the immigrants and thanked them for helping each other. As he walked along the island’s rocky coast, the wind blew his zucchetto off (as can be seen in the video).

Leo XIV Meets Migrant Boy in Carefully Choreographed Staging: Today in Lampedusa, Pope Leo XIV met Leo, a migrant boy who arrived alone on the island ten years ago after losing his mother. The boy told the Pope that a simple paper ball gave him hope when he first arrived and inspired him to keep playing football. He gave Pope Leo a football and a heartfelt letter. During his visit, Pope Leo XIV called on Europe to protect and support illegal immigrants.

Grazie, Leo.»

COCAINE ORGIES IN THE VATICAN
Reports of cocaine-fueled orgies involving Vatican figures generally trace back to a real-life incident in June 2017, when Vatican police raided an apartment and broke up a drug-fueled gay sex party. The event caused a major scandal for the Catholic Church, though some details have also been mirrored or exaggerated in popular fiction. [1, 2]

The Incident
: In late June 2017, the Vatican Gendarmerie (police) raided a property after neighbors complained about constant noise and a steady stream of people entering and leaving the residence. [1, 2]
The Location: The raid took place in an apartment belonging to the Vatican's Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith. Ironically, this is the specific department tasked with handling cases of clerical misconduct and sexual …Mwy

Bishop Kozon: "Traditionis Custodes Does Not Harm Church - FSSPX Consecrations Do"

Bishop Czesław Kozon of Copenhagen, Denmark celebrates Mass according to the Roman Rite whenever he is asked to do so, he told de.CatholicNewsAgency.com on 4 July.
He favours a pastoral approach: "People who want this should have the opportunity to do so."
At the same time, he believes that 'Traditionis Custodes' "does not harm the Church": "One must recognise that the post-conciliar liturgy is the Church's liturgy, and that it can also be celebrated beautifully. That is the ideal we should strive for."
He described the episcopal consecrations performed by the Priestly Fraternity of Saint Pius X (FSSPX) as "tragic and completely pointless".
Monsignor Kozon continued: "It also shows that this is about more than just the old Mass. Those who once praised the Church’s Magisterium, emphasised obedience and promoted unity are now acting in a way that is clearly disobedient and harms unity. That is why it is truly sad, and there is no excuse for it."

Cardinal Koch: The FSSPX's View of Papacy Is Contradiction

Cardinal Kurt Koch, Prefect of the Dicastery for Promoting Christian Unity, says the illicit episcopal consecrations by the Priestly Fraternity of St. Pius X (FSSPX) should not be seen as the end of dialogue with Rome. Key quotes from the Communio podcast published by Herder on 2 July..
On Excommunication and Future Dialogue
- An excommunication is a medicinal penalty. It is not intended to be definitive; rather, it is meant to invite repentance so that one may find the way back.
- I hope it will be possible in the future to resume new talks, so that they may find their way back into the Catholic Church.
- At the moment I do not see that happening, but it would also be far too early.
No Recognition of Popes Since Vatican II
- This amounts to a form of self-authorisation for carrying out episcopal consecrations.
- …a self-contradiction: on the one hand, they invoke the authority of the Pope in the most beautiful terms, yet on the decisive issues they go their own way.
- To me, this gives …Mwy
